Project:

Throughout the Fall Quarter, I collaborated with my team to automate composting practices through an irrigated Aerated Static Pile (ASP) project. Aerated refers to air being pushed through a substance. Static implies that the piles remain stationary and do not require turning. An air blower, perforated pipes, and composting material are used in this process. For microbes to survive in the piles, moisture is necessary.

By partnering with the UCCE, we proactively tackled this issue and promoted sustainability in the community. The project's basis was supported through sustainability fundamentals and client demands. This Efolio tracks the project's design evolution, partner communication, and matrices used to evaluate the project's success.

Skills

Math Formulas and a Calculator

In the UCCE Aerated Static Pile Project, I honed my skills in understanding and addressing client needs by optimizing the composting and educational processes. My contribution to developing an innovative ASP irrigation system included implementing horizontal supports and a tightened drip system, focusing on efficiency and sustainability. These improvements, such as modularity and automated watering, tackled challenges like water pooling and wind resistance, enhancing my capabilities in user engagement and project innovation.
